Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence: Longlist 2020

Carnegie Medal winners will each receive $5,000. The six finalists and two winners will be honored during a celebratory event, sponsored by NoveList, at ALA’s 2020 Annual Conference in Chicago.

 

A total of forty-nine books (twenty-four fiction, twenty-five nonfiction) have been selected for the longlist for the 2020 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction.

 

Texas books and authors on this year’s lists include Michael Parker for Prairie Fever (Read our review here.) in fiction, and Douglas Brinkley for American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race, and Holly George-Warren for Janis: Her Life and Music (this week’s Lone Star Review title) in nonfiction.

 

Six finalists will be announced on November 4, and two medal winners will be announced at the Reference and User Services Association’s Book and Media Awards event at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits in Philadelphia on Sunday, January 26.
