Texas bookstores are opening, moving, and moving online

As you do your holiday shopping or explore bookstores across Texas, double-check your destinations. 

 

BRYAN 

After trying to stay afloat with fundraisers and a community appeal, Whimsy & Wild Emporium announced that it was forced to close, but it continues to offer online book sales. 

 

FLOWER MOUND 

Barnes & Noble opened its new bookstore in the Highlands of Flower Mound on Wednesday, November 11, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and signing by author Julia Heaberlin. The store had to close the previous location earlier this year when the lease ended.  

 

FORT WORTH 

Leaves Book and Tea Shop announced that they will be moving to 1251 W Magnolia in the near future. They will be open at their current location through December 16, 2023, and will reopen in conjunction with the bakery on Magnolia after the first of the year. 

  

HOUSTON 

NEW TO US: Houston Book Warehouse, a neighborhood bookstore located on Kieth Harrow Blvd., opened December, 2022, and says: “We take representation seriously.”  

 

RICHARDSON 

Barnes & Noble opened a new store on W. Campbell Rd. on November 29, 2023 and are hiring seasonal staff for this location. 

 

RICHMOND 

LIT Bookbar announced that they will soon have a permanent retail space on Jax and 7th. They suggest subscribing to their email to be notified of grand opening dates and exclusive events. 

 

 

OTHER INDUSTRY NEWS 

 

Texas Book Festival announced that Marianne DeLeón will serve as CEO of the organization beginning December 1, 2023.
