Last day of business for Paragraphs on Padre is February 29, 2020

"But, after much thought we have decided it is time to retire and go fishing, travel (together), enjoy the beach and just figure out what comes next."

Paragraphs on Padre, a fixture on South Padre Island for more than a decade, will close on February 29, 2020. Owners Joni Montover and Griff Mangan are retiring. They made the announcement on Facebook.

“As we prepare for the start of a new decade, I remember having some new (now old) friends over for beer as we sat on packing boxes and talked about social media. I also remember those who helped us unpack our first shipment of books and get them on the shelves for our opening.

I have so many to thank for making these ten (actually 12) years more successful than I could ever have imagined. And our business continues to grow each year.

So it is a bittersweet decision which Griff and I have wrestled with. We have found running Paragraphs both rewarding and absorbing, it has given us a great deal of satisfaction and I am very proud of the contribution we have made to the community.

But, after much thought we have decided it is time to retire and go fishing, travel (together), enjoy the beach and just figure out what comes next.

March is when we have tentatively scheduled to close the bookstore. Thank you for all your support over the years. We will provide more information as our plans progress.

Thank you again!”

Paragraphs will be sorely missed by the entire Texas literary community, but we wish them all the luck in their future endeavors.
