HOUSTON  – Writespace, a non-profit literary organization, announces its first Open House and Faculty Reading Series to be held Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21. Faculty readings will be held both nights at 7:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public, and $15.00 Writespace Gift Certificates will be awarded to all who attend.

Friday features a free write-in and critique session. Free feedback from a professional editor will be offered. Please bring the first two to five pages of your fiction, poetry, essay or memoir work in progress, as well as seven copies for the group. Afterwards enjoy a spontaneous poetry lesson from Writespace instructor and local poet, BJ Love. There will be a free happy hour reception (21+) before the faculty reading at 7:30pm.

Saturday, Writespace Director Elizabeth White-Olsen will give a mini-workshop on “How to Wow Readers on Page One.” A “Meet and greet” will be hosted afterward for those interested in our Young Writers Program. SAT/ACT and college admissions essay instructor, Jessica Capelle, and Creative writing instructors Elizabeth White-Olsen and Adrienne Perry will be on-hand.
